What is CiAIS?
CiAIS - the Completely inAccurate Invasion Simulator (NOT CAIS, Yeta! It's not CAIS!) is a "computer-augmented tabletop turn based pseudo-random strategy game". Yes that's a painfully long description, so here's a breakdown:
computer augmented - a computer in some form is necessary to play CiAIS, whether on a board or online (see)
tabletop - pretty self-explanatory
turn-based - each player is given a turn, in an order decided beforehand
pseudo-random - fighting is based off pseudo-random calculations (weighted probability), that is explained better in CiAIS::Units::Fighting_and_Probability
CiAIS can be played with 2-8 people, but the most fun is when there are 3-6 players.
The game itself revolves around a world map, and the aim is to capture as many cities as possible while defending your own.
Where can you play it?
Anywhere!
CiAIS can be played using:
- A physical map split into three theatres (see CiAIS::Handbook::Equipment)
- Online, using various different methods and apps (preferred is Apple's Freeform app)
- A map of a specific area (see CiAIS::Variants::Mini) (not complete yet, coming soon)
Why should you play it?
because it's fun
How to play
CiAIS can seem complicated at first, but it gets easier once you get into it.
